www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scotia/turkeys-block-highway-101-no-charges-despite-fowl-play-1.2593971 Nova Scotia RCMP say despite the obvious fowl play, no charges are anticipated after two turkeys blocked traffic on Highway 101 last week. An officer was driving on Highway 101 just west of the Bridgetown exit last Wednesday before the blizzard hit when he encountered two birds on the road. He took a photo and decided to move on, but the turkeys had other plans. "The big turkey decided to follow the car," said Cpl. Dale Guy, a spokesman for the Bridgetown RCMP. A Nova Scotia RCMP officer was driving on Highway 101 last week when he encountered these two creatures standing in the middle of the road. (Courtesy: Bridgetown RCMP) "It was right in the middle of the road and running beside the car on the yellow centre line." Guy said the officer yelled at the birds to get off the road, but they refused to listen to him at first. "He's talking to the bird and the bird is chirping right back at him," he said. After about 30 seconds, the turkeys ran away. While the birds are not known to police, Guy said several members of the public have reported seeing the same turkeys on the highway.

I wonder if they are the same "turkeys" i know who live down in the valley. A couple of them will gobble down anything if its on a plate.Course myself I been known to have a taste for the Famous Grouse, which means I become an Irish Turkey for liking a blended Scotch.
So it is plain to see that there is no shortage of turkeys in Nova Scotia.

Some idiot releasing domestic turkeys trying to start a "wild" population....someone we all know who dominates the other forum tried this a few years back as well.....in my opinion its introducing an invasive species like someone putting bass or pickeral in a lake !!!

Love to see "Real" wild turkeys here, but on the other hand I wonder what they would do to already existing wild animals? Lots of Turkeys in the valley however, even a few right here where I live, in my house. LOL

I did see that there was someone on the other forum who was trying to get them established in the wild here. Anybody know if they've ever been wild here in NS or if they would be an invasive species? If they used to be in the wild here then we could use that as a reason for getting DNR to reintroduce them and a season created, if they were invasive then we could request they be put on the Other Harvestable Wildlife list as they'll be doing damage to crops etc.
Mikeo and MWO, there're plenty of turkeys around - I work with about 400 of them in the Downtown Halifax area. There're also plenty of jackass and swine around so maybe we need to start seeing if we can get a season on them, or relocate them to another Province?
