I have hunted Moose in NFLD a couple times, beautifull country and Hunted Deer/Moose while living in NB. Both Provinces have fantastic Hunting as well as country. Anyone else hunt these two provinces before?

Have to agree with the fishing. Sea Run Trout fishing all around the Chatham area when I was posted there. Not to mention the excellant Trout fishing out the Renous Highway towards Plaster Rock. I still miss NB.

I still miss NB. I used to spend alot of time fishing up the Renous highway/ Blackville/Quarryville/Dungarvan...now 100% of my time is spent up Wayerton way on the Nor'west Miramichi ....man there are also some pile of moose and deer up there .............If I could talk the Mrs into moving back there I'd be there in a heart beat...I am currently looking for a small parcel of land up there to put a shed or trailer up there for retirement purposes...LOL

I do not think you would ever go wrong buying land up there. Beautifull country. You are right about the deer and moose. Some of the biggest Whitetails I have ever seen came out of that general area. Moose, now that too is another story. Was on a couple of sucessfull group Moose hunts there, but one of the most meemorable outing was while bird hunting. In the rut I had a Huge Bull giving me the look over, real close, I though for sure it was coming at me. I was armed with a shotgun, 6 shot. LOL Black River, Bay Devine(SP)and the Federal Park on Hwg 11 were excellant Sea Trout Areas.

Yah the moose are everywhere ...general rule up there is don't drive anywhere after dark and if you really must do it very slow...lol...nothing like standing in the river and seeing moose comedown and cross below or above you.

In case you thought it only happened once here is a pic of me tying flies along the Little Southwest Miramichi River ...and having a "soda" Robbie and I with another big fish Here we are gabbing with DNR they stopped us driving out from fishing for a routine check and we gabbed for quite some time andtook a pic...good guys...I love being stopped by enforcement its great to see...happens far too little these days I even hook a fish once in awhile ...back in the day when I was a dirty smoker This was a big big fish well over 30lb we figured..it jumped 6 times and we didnt land it but it was atleast 50" long One of my favorite Miramichi pics...went to answer the "call of Nature" and found these 2

Could be worth its weight in gold given the correct situation. Guiding for some is a full time job. Always thought about it....may still give it a try down the road? Guiding for Trout, Birds, possibly Deer or Bear might have some worth.

Really could be worth its weight in gold, question for you MWO, in your adventures to the rock have you ever Moose hunted and salmon fished all in the same trip? What an experience that would be

I am not a Salmon Fisher. Lived on the mighty Miramichi for 7 years, Never fished Salmon once, although accidental catches while Sea Trout fishing occurred. So the answer to your question is no. Having said that I have done some, a lot, of Trout fishing in NFLD, once while Moose hunting as well. No guide is required so long as certain guidelines are followed. Non Res Trout license last time over was under $20.00. Salmon never interested me, with the possible inclusion of fishing for them when posted to BC. That is a totally different adventure however.

Luke I believe the NL salmon season closes the 1st of Sept and would therefore be closed while the moose hunt is on
There is money to be made in guiding if your the outfitter ...many guides working for lodges in NB make only $100 a day and have to supply transportation to the sports to and from pools, stands, grouse covert etc etc ...unless you have a place to keep clients, someone to feed them and transport for them there is very little to be made .....most independant guides that do guide services only ie: no lodging, meals, transport can make a few bucks but the clients are few and far between because lets face it when people pay to go fishing or hunting they want to be pampered...LOL....I got caught up in it a couple of times spent 16 hour a day with clients on the river, drove their arses around all over NE New Brunswick for days got my daily rate ...by the time I added up the gas burned in the 4 door F150 that I had and the hours I put in I would have been better off staying home and throwing rocks at the cat ...LOL

ahh i didn't know if the seasons crossed or not, LOL you hold some valid points see im the opposite if i paid for a guide i would want to be dumped off in the wilderness some where with a canoe tent and a sleeping bag with enough food to get by no one to bother us and just fish and enjoy our time out and of course a few "pops"
