It's not really the cheating that concerns me but trying to get them flying through the timber. If you're hunting a vast expanse or on the edge of a field then it may not be too bad, although the deer could be spooked easily when they see it, but if you're in a small clearing or in the middle of the woods then navigating through the trees could be a pain. Bit of an expensive thing to break, at least if I drop my binoculars then it's only about $60 that I have wasted, not $350.
