I have a new, out of the box 2007 2.5 4 Stroke Merc that has never seen the water. I use it as a an emergency back-up for my boat, but have never had to use it. Start it each spring in a bucket of water and then a few times thru the summer. Each year I have had to prime it, plug out, gas in cylinder and do this over and over until it picks up the fuel. This year it is not picking up the fuel, starts with the gas in cylinder but then stops. Getting tired of doing this. Any ideas why it will not pick up the fuel? It is run dry each fall as well, no gas left in carb or lines and is stored indoors in a warm basement. It should purr like a kitten.

Lee, sounds like you have an air leak somewhere, shes lost vacuum not giving you the fuel pick up, look for cracked broke or missing clamps, hoses, fittings, or loose screws or bad seals
If in doubt snug em all up should fix it right up for you
