I saw that Cabelas has an online sale so, I figured I would take the plunge. 1 cabelas bmag xp with scope & 300 rnds of ammo on its way. It has the cabelas 3x9x40 changeable turret scope, and a heavey fluted barrel. I should have it by the 10th of Jan, cant wait to try it out

bmag is 17wsm. A 17 cal rimfire to reach 3000fps in a 20 grn and 2850fps in a 25 grn. I ordered 150 in both weights to see wich I like the best. As of now Winchester is the only ammo in Canada but, Hornady is now getting their ammo out in US, end of this year there should be both brands on the shelves

it came today. A little dissapointed, it was the standard sporter barrel and I had to mount the scope. A friend of mine in Scarsdale has a bore sighter and the ammo wont be here untill Friday. Let you know how it shoots as soon as possible Monday, 12 Jan; An addition, I just got off the phone with Cabelas about the barrel mix up and was told that it was a typo on the web page, their fault and they offered me the option of sending it back at their dime or a $40.00 gift card. While I was talking with them I sugested that insted of sending it back and keep the card they send me a scope leveler and a soft case for it. So, I now have another package coming to me from Cabelas. And the ammo is here, bang bang, shoot shoot

26th Jan, finnaly got a chance to shoot it. After bore sighting the first 3 shots 4" Left and 14"Low It took 5 more shots to put it in the black At 80 yards 1&1/2" groups I am pleased, once I get used to the accutrigger it should tighten up. Look out, rabbits, squirls cyotes

up date, I was out in the wood lot this morning (show shoes on of course), checking out the drifts in the lane. I brought along the bmag and as I came around a bend there I saw a crow picking at something in the snow. There was a shower of black feathers and the snow painted pink. I still have no idea what that crow was picking at. I have come to the conclusion that if you want a light rifle for hunting rabbits this is not it. The round is just too violent unless all you are after is a hind leg or 2

I finally found the time to fire some 25 grn rnds over a chronograph and the velosity on the box was true (low 2565 high 2650 fps) averaged out to 2605 fps, the box advertised 2600 fps Also I was able to do some 100 meter shooting. From a rest 2" groups. Witch for a 17cal rim fire on a day with 30+ kmh gusts is quite respectible
