Anybody know off-hand why 22LR ammo shouldn't have a pronounced lip on the bullet head if it's to be used in a semi-automatic? I'm needing to get ammo that's at least 1300fps but it's severely restricting my choices and then to make sure I don't get one with a pronounced lip, Winchester Wildcat 22 has a lip, is very difficult. Everywhere has ammo that's between 1200fps and 1280fps but nowhere has anything with a higher velocity.
Hnatiuks also said they're having trouble getting Stingers in which would be ideal.
Any help or advice greatly appreciated.

the best way to explain it is, if you or a friend has a 9mm or 45auto remove the barrel and look at the throt, (chamber).
You will notice that there is a built in ramp on the bottom. Now look at a loaded mag and notice that the bullets have a normal 12 deg up point in the front. Now as the bolt moves back the bullet on top is horazontal with the bolt. But as soon as the bolt clears the bullet the point pops back up to the 12 deg. As the bolt moves forward and is pushing the top round out the upwards deg can increase upto 20+ degs. This is caused by the spring under the mag floor plate and the bullet been shoved up the ramp into the chamber. If the bullet is not conical then the shoulder of the (semi wad cutter style bullet) can jam on the top of the chamber. Some auto loaders will accept that style of bullet, if yours will not there is no way to get it accept them other than modifying the chamber and that is a real stupid thing to do. If you need to go over 1300fps in a 22 try 22wmrimfire

Thank g0rd0. I was unsure so thought I'd check before doing anything stupid. I've found that she likes CCL MiniMag even though it's only 1235fps. Have some SuperX that's 1300fps so she should like that more.
