I'm back on the market for another rifle to replace the Savage Axis XP .308Win as I shortly won't have access to it for hunting. What, in peoples opinions, would be the best caliber to go for if I'm thinking about deer and bear, with a possible moose hunt in the future (may enter the draw one year)?
I know everybody has different opinions as to which is better and I know that I like the .308 but I'm also considering the other available options. There is no right or wrong answer to this as it's personal preference.

i do not own one but a 270 is probably in my opinion the best round available, clean kill, accurate over long distance, solid impact and not a lot of recoil.

Thanks Luke, I didn't think 270 would be powerful enough for moose, I know it is for deer and bear, but after reading a few US forums there're are a lot of people that like them. Think I may look at them - problem is it now gives me more of a choice and so harder to decide.
