Going out on Friday to try out my new 870 Express. Not sure whether to go for grouse, pheasant or rabbit, possibly both, but looking forward to seeing how she handles. Will be keeping plug in as going for grouse/pheasant as well.
Does anybody have any tips that I could use so that it's easier to learn how to use her?
Any advice greatly appreciated.

witch one? 2&3/4, 3, 3&1/2"? multichoke? Light weight? Winchester used to offer a 2&3/4" #6 std field load. If they still are on the market scoop as much of that as you can manage. I found that load to work majic in my sxs. From grouse to duck to rabbit to fox and yotes, yes I said yotes. They are good for 40 yards no problem. If it has a fixed full choke in the tube wait untill your bird is out of range or all you will have left to pick up is feathers

Thanks G0rd0. It's one of the black synthetic ones that's chambered for 2¾" and 3" shells. It came with the Improved Modified choke tube so just needing to get hold of a Full choke so that I can use slugs in it as well for next year. I'm also wanting to find a swivel mount for in the magazine cap so that I can attach a sling to it (it'll allow me to take both the pump-action and the semi-auto .22 out rabbit hunting if I want). It's fairly lightweight and I'm definitely looking forward to going out.
Ammo wise at the moment I have Winchester #4 and Federal #7½ so depending what I'm after will help me choose which shells to take, maybe a mixture as well.
