Any young folk out there that would like to get involved in the Hunting or Fishing sports, but do not know where to start, should contact the Hants West Wildlife Association. They run a L2F (Learn to Fish Program) and are starting up a Youth Hunter mentorship program.
I can provide contact info should anyone have interest.

That is a great project for you guys/gals. Its a shame we lost so many wildlife clubs and thanks to the one's that stuck it out. Is the only one left in Cape Breton?.... The Port Morion Wildlife Association. If it is, ty also for hanging in there.
I remember being a member of the Bra d'or Wildlife Club and it got me started at a very young age. I remember winning an 8ft TELESCOPIC FISHING ROD AND REEL plus a fishing basket in the youth division for largest trout over 55 years ago....less then a lb...but it was a monster to me. First time i used it was at North River and i got a 2 lb speckle in the froth below the first fall with a artificial fly my father made...held it in my lap all the way home. I think that falls was dynamited sense then. They had to close the club because of membership decline....but thumbs up to all clubs that stood strong through hard times.

Very Good project, more organisations should work towards promoting youth, the government has the youth hunting season, as well as the free fishing weekends. This is my opinon is the perfect time to get interested youth out and start the addiction. Hants West Wildlife Association does a wonderful job, Keep up the good work!

It's not just trying to interest them in hunting and fishing though. The main issue is trying to get them off their rear ends and taking an interest in the outdoors in general, hunting and fishing can then come as a second part.
Geocaching is a fairly good way of getting them active as most cellphones have GPS now and so trying to find something using co-ordinates gets them exploring and away from the computer, but still with some technology so they're not completely alienated. I know we have issues with recruiting young people into Ground Search and Rescue.
Agree with Luke about it being a very worthwhile project though.

Thought they did that this winter? The mentorship program begins May 10 however, that is more directed to Hunting However. Ask Steve he is involved in the L2F
