I could only wish the Pheasant Pops were high here. Not so the last several years. I have a Rooster and Hen in the field. Hopefully they breed and the predators do not get the chicks.

there was a wood cock protecting something in the chips before the sod fields, was charging at me and the girl friend flaring its tail and making awful noises, must have the nest near by

No pheasants this morning but about 5 rabbits and 1 deer at the side of Antrim Road when coming into work, a rabbit came and kept me company while waiting for the bus as well - bet that won't happen in a few months.

Just back from Fishing. First Bear of the year sighted. It stood in the alders as I rounded the bend. Let me get closer till it realized I was not a Sow, then gone like a flash. Big Boy too. Also saw some large Pussy Cat tracks. Driven out of the woods by Black Flies, holy shit.

I can't wait until November either. Plenty of rabbits, pheasants and getting a few deer coming into the orchard. Collected my stand yesterday, after 10 months in the fields, and there were a few fresh sign around. Also keep spooking grouse while walking in the woods.

The herd looks healthy again and as if it's managed to survive most of the Winter without any issues. Main casualties I've seen had decided that they wanted to test their strength against automobiles - never a nice test.

Not a good test at all, ive been doing some walking around the enfield quarry pond on the atv trails and stuff and the size of the tracks im finding is unreal, may try to do a shed hunt here soon

Dead Coyote by St Croix pond last weeekend on the 101. Fox in my field, Deer in my field that looks like it went through a drier, fur is certainly shedding for its summer coat. Should be a great saturday out in the backwoods fishing, wildlife is reproducing now, young birds everywhere.
